Stronger Partnerships, Smarter Infrastructure

Delivering the infrastructure needed to support provincial growth targets isn’t something we do alone—it takes strong partnerships with industry experts, planners, engineers, contractors, and suppliers. That’s why this open house was more than just an information session. It was an opportunity for direct engagement between Regional staff and the consultants who help shape our roads, water, and wastewater systems.

Attendees heard firsthand from leaders in Public Works and Supply Chain Management, who shared updates on infrastructure planning processes, major infrastructure, and state-of-good-repair projects across the region and continuous improvements. These discussions provided valuable insights into how we can work together to deliver high-quality infrastructure more efficiently.

Planning for Growth: Infrastructure That Supports Our Future

Looking ahead, planning for our region’s future is more important than ever. By 2051, the Region’s population is expected to grow by 1.1 million people and 500,000 jobs, increasing the demand for sustainable infrastructure.

To support this growth, Halton is developing our new Integrated Master Plan, which will outline the water, wastewater, and transportation strategies necessary to keep our communities thriving. A key part of the study involves consultation with the public and review agencies through Public Information Centres (PICs), with our next consultation period scheduled online in early April. Following public consultation, the plan will be refined and brought back to the Regional Council in the fall for approval, ensuring we’re ready to meet the needs of our expanding population.
