Updated DoxyPEP Recommendations for STI Prevention

The National Advisory Committee on Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (NAC-STBBI) has released updated recommendations on the use of prophylactic doxycycline for the prevention of bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including chlamydia, syphilis, and possibly gonorrhea.

ISPA enforcement may lead to increased vaccination requests; Polio vaccine guidance

Halton Region Public Health is enforcing the Immunization of School Pupils Act. Students born in 2008–2013 and 2016-2018 may be suspended from school starting in March 2026 if their immunization records with Public Health are incomplete.

Vaccine Ordering Deadlines for Holiday Closure, Adult RSV Program Vaccine Updates and Men C-ACYW Product Change

Halton Region’s administrative offices will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, 2025, to Thursday, January 1, 2026, and will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026. Vaccine distribution will be unavailable during the closure.

Provincial measles outbreak declared over; immunize & screen especially with international travel

The measles outbreak in Ontario has been officially declared over, effective October 6, 2025. Ensure international travellers and children are up to date on their immunizations, including measles containing vaccines.

RSV Prevention Program: Product updates and reminders

There is an adequate supply of RSV immunizing agents for the Infant and High-Risk Adult Prevention Programs.
