Canada-Ontario Job Grant

The Canada-Ontario Job Grant provides direct financial support to individual employers who wish to purchase training for their workforce. Learn more about the grant on our Skills and Training webpage.

Employment resource centres

Visit our employment centres for support with your job search.

Our free services include

  • access to current local job postings
  • on-site staff to help support your search
  • internet, fax machine and photocopier access
  • information resources: links to employment and training sites, books, career guides, local newspapers and business directories
  • employment workshops/employer presentations
  • Better Jobs Ontario (external link) training opportunities
  • self-employment orientation sessions

We provide accessible features at our centres

  • adjustable workstations
  • accessible software, including Zoom Text
  • support hearing impaired communication

For your convenience, we offer two locations

Hours of operation: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Job placement

We work with local employers to identify their needs and help get you access to the opportunities that are the best fit. Job placement services are designed for individuals who are “job ready”.

We can help you to

  • connect with employers
  • submit your applications and arrange for interviews
  • assist with on-the-job training plans
  • provide training incentives and employment supports to the employer
  • provide after-placement monitoring and support

Mental health and addictions

Employment Halton offers support to individuals who struggle with managing their mental health or addiction.

A referral to our mental health program may include access to the following supports

  • vocational/cognitive assessments
  • brief solution focused counselling
  • cognitive behavioural therapy sessions
  • application assistance for the Ontario Disability Support Program
  • referrals to community mental health programs/supports

One-on-one support

Reach out. Our staff will work directly with you in your job search and preparation.

Our individual supports can help you

  • identify opportunities that match your skills and interests
  • access training (for example, Better Jobs Ontario (external link) and apprenticeship opportunities)
  • prepare your cover letters and resume
  • rehearse for job interviews
  • connect with community resources

Hiring events

Each month, we invite employers to speak to job seekers about hiring practices and opportunities.

All hiring events are hosted at the Oakville Employment Resource Centre: 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville (Google Maps link).
