Paramedic services calls
There were 84 calls for suspected opioid overdose responded to by Halton Region Paramedic Services from January 1 to July 31, 2025. This is lower than the number of calls during this period in 2024 (122 calls) or 2023 (105 calls).
Emergency department visits
There were 54 visits by Halton residents to an emergency department in Ontario for a confirmed opioid overdose from January 1 to July 31, 2025. This is lower than the number of visits that occurred during this period in 2024 (85 visits) or 2023 (79 visits). Data for 2025 are preliminary and subject to underreporting.
Naloxone distribution and training
There were 294 naloxone doses distributed through Halton Region Public Health in July 2025 and 1,291 naloxone doses distributed over the last 12 months. There were 27 clients who received naloxone training from Halton Region Public Health or a community agency in Halton in July 2025.
Opioid-related deaths
There were 28 confirmed opioid-related deaths known to the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario from January to December 2024. This is lower than the number that occurred during 2023 (32 deaths) or 2022 (38 deaths). Data for 2022 onwards are preliminary and subject to change.
Suspect drug-related deaths
There were 20 suspect drug-related deaths among Halton residents from January 1 to July 31, 2025. This is lower than the number that occurred during this period in 2024 (28 deaths) or 2023 (36 deaths). Data are preliminary and subject to change.
