Halton is a great place to explore farms, markets and activities throughout the year. This year in particular, many of our local agri-businesses have felt the impact of COVID-19. While it has been challenging, owners and operators in our community have been resilient and enhanced their services so you can shop and enjoy as safely as possible. You may have already seen some of the changes, such as online purchases, home delivery and curbside pick-up. If you are shopping in person, you may have also experienced the public health measures in place to keep visitors safe. With exceptional service, safety and great produce and fun to offer in the fall months - now is a great time to support and experience our local agricultural community!
Supporting local is easy with our Simply Local online map!
Our Simply Local online map is an easy way to learn about farms near you, find out what’s in season or plan your next agri-venture. If you are on the go, you can also access the map from your phone or tablet.
Use the map to check out what Halton has to offer, including:
- farmers’ markets;
- farms with fresh produce and seasonal activities;
- equestrian activities;
- nurseries and garden centres; and
- tourist information.
Please be kind and stay safe
If you’re out visiting a local agri-business, please remember to follow public health guidance and any additional measures, such as directional signage, that have been implemented by the business. This is in addition to washing or sanitizing your hands regularly, wearing a mask when indoors or when physical distancing is a challenge, and staying home when you are sick (even with mild symptoms). As always, please be respectful and kind to others as we continue to work together to keep our economy and community open and stop the spread of COVID-19. For more information about public health measures in place and how to stay safe while exploring farms, markets or other agricultural locations, please visit halton.ca/COVID19.
By continuing to support our local farmers and agri-businesses and doing so safely, we can help keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
