More Halton residents eligible for third doses of COVID-19 vaccine

I can’t say enough about our incredible team here at Halton Region. Thanks in part to our staff and community efforts, we have one of the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates in Ontario with 85 per cent fully vaccinated! If you haven’t already, please check our COVID-19 dashboard that has daily data on vaccination and case rates.

In addition to our efforts to keep increasing the number of residents fully vaccinated, our team is also ready to start offering third doses to more residents. Our four clinics across the region are ready, our successful online booking system is available to take appointments and our team of friendly and knowledgeable Access Halton/311 staff are ready to support those who need it.

Based on Provincial direction, residents who are newly eligible for a third dose can start booking their appointments today. This includes:

  • residents 70 years of age and older (born in 1951 or earlier);
  • eligible health care workers and designated essential caregivers in congregate settings 16 years of age and older (born in 2005 or earlier);
  • individuals who received two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine or one dose of the Janssen vaccine; and
  • First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals 16 years of age and older (born in 2005 or earlier) and their non-Indigenous household members 16 years of age and older (born in 2005 or earlier).

Our online booking system is also now taking appointments for all first, second and third doses. To support an expected increase in demand for vaccination at our clinics, we have moved to appointment-based only.

If you know someone who is eligible and may need assistance accessing information or booking their appointment, I encourage you to reach out to them. Residents who require additional assistance, language supports or other accommodations at our clinics can call 311 before their appointment and we are happy to make arrangements. We also offer transportation services to and from appointments, free of charge, to those who require it.

There are also many other ways to get your third dose including at over 100 pharmacies and participating primary care clinics across the region. First and second doses are still available at Provincial GO-VAXX bus stops (walk-in), over 100 participating pharmacies; and many primary care providers.
