Regional Chair Gary Carr: 11 years as a Greater Toronto Top Employer

I am pleased to announce that Halton Region has received the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers award for 2022! This is the 11th year in a row that Halton Region has been recognized. The annual competition highlights organizations that offer exceptional working environments that promote employee engagement, wellness and success.

Submissions are reviewed from public and private, national and international organizations and based on a wide-range of criteria. This year, Halton Region was selected based on our:

  • wellness program;
  • opportunities for recent graduates;
  • supports for new parents;
  • professional development and training; and
  • resources made available to staff to support their health and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have also been selected as one of Canada’s Best Employers for Recent Graduates for the third year in a row as part of the The Career Directory, a guide to entry-level recruitment for recent college and university graduates. The Region was recognized for our intern program that helps recent graduates find work in their field. We welcome a new cohort of interns each year who work closely with our diverse team of professionals to gain experience while delivering high-quality services to residents and businesses in Halton. A snapshot of some of our incredible staff and programs

Providing a supportive workplace for our staff is always an important priority. We employ over 2,500 talented staff who go above and beyond to deliver high-quality essential programs and services, including our ongoing response to the pandemic and rollout of COVID-19 vaccines. In fact, we have continue to deliver over 86 per cent of our programs and services throughout COVID-19. I am incredibly proud and thankful for the hard work done by all our staff.

Here are a few photos of staff delivering high quality programs and services to our community throughout the pandemic:
