Halton is home to a vibrant and diverse agricultural community, offering a wide range of fresh seasonal produce, farmers’ markets, nurseries, garden centres and fun agri-ventures for the entire family. Local farms and agri-businesses continue to feel the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic – they need our support, and it’s a great time to show it! With the growing season finally here, you can enjoy great local food and dozens of attractions right here in Halton while supporting the region’s many excellent agri-businesses.
The Region’s Simply Local online map is an easy and convenient way to learn about farms near you and across Halton. You can find out what’s in season, such as strawberries, beans and cucumbers, plan your next agri-venture at farms and garden centres, and learn how to connect with local food producers. You can also access the map from your phone or tablet – perfect for last-minute outings or planning your visit while on the go.
In June, local farmers’ markets will open across Halton, making it even easier to purchase fresh produce in your community. I also encourage you to explore farms that offer pick-your-own fruits and vegetables, ranches, stables and equestrian centres. You can even search for nearby nurseries and greenhouses to find the season’s best plants and greenery for your home, garden or balcony!
