Holiday waste collection
- Curbside waste collection will be delayed by one day in some areas due to the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.
- Christmas trees are collected curbside during the weeks of January 5 and 12.
- The Halton Waste Management Site is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. December 26, 27, 29, 30, 31 and January 2. It is closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day.
- Reminder! Circular Materials Ontario (external link) takes over the operation of the Blue Box program starting January 1, 2026. Review our recent media release to learn more.

Homelessness support and outreach
Halton Region provides support for individuals experiencing homelessness, including providing emergency shelter options and assistance in finding more permanent housing.
- If you see someone sleeping outside or if you need support, email outreach@halton.ca or call 1-866-442-5866 or 311.
- Outreach support for those experiencing a mental health crisis is also available through the Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) at: 1-877-825-9011 (available 24/7).
- If a situation is life-threatening, please call 911.
Taking care of your mental health
The holidays can be wonderful, but they’re not always easy. This time of the year can be difficult for those missing loved ones or others struggling with the pressures of dinners and gifts. Remember, support is available—please reach out to one another and share the list of services available in Halton.
