Celebrating the Official Opening of 1 District Police Station

Article

Halton Region is investing in the services and infrastructure essential to meeting the needs of our growing community. Alongside our partners from the Halton Regional Police Service and the Towns of Milton and Halton Hills, we recently celebrated a key milestone with the official opening of 1 District Police Station, a new 66,000-square-foot police station that will serve residents in Milton and Halton Hills!

1 District Police Station is a great example of how the critical investments we’re making in infrastructure directly support our growing communities and the safety and well-being of our residents. It ensures both urban and rural communities in Milton and Halton Hills have access to high-quality modern policing services, not only today, but as our community continues to grow.

We work closely with Halton Regional Police Service on many key initiatives, including the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, and I know that our collaboration will continue to advance our shared priorities for a healthy and safe community. The 1 District Police Station is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a symbol of strong partnerships in action. It’s a reflection of thoughtful planning for growth. And it’s a commitment to delivering responsive, high-quality public services when and where people need them.

Most importantly, it’s a place that supports the dedicated police officers and civilian members who serve our community every day with professionalism, courage, and care.

Because of them, Halton remains one of the safest places to live in Canada.

I want to thank all our teams at Halton Region who led the construction, financing and project management aspects of 1 District Police Station. This project was built and delivered by Halton Region for the Halton Regional Police Service, was delivered under budget and the building itself was completed in just 26 months! As Halton grows, so must the infrastructure and services that support it, and your teams are a big part of making that happen!

Finally, I want to thank our partners at the Halton Regional Police Service, including Police Chief Stephen Tanner and Deputy Chiefs Roger Wilkie, Jeff Hill and Kevin Maher, for their leadership on this project. I also want to thank Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor, Milton Mayor Gord Krantz and their teams at the Towns of Halton Hills and Milton for all their contributions to this project.

Together—with strong partnerships, smart investments, and a shared vision—we’re building a safer, stronger Halton for everyone.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this vision to life—and thank you for your continued commitment to our community.
