What Do Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Workers in Halton Do?
Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Workers are trained professionals who support children’s learning and development. They help create safe, engaging environments where children can explore, discover and build confidence through play-based activities and learning.
Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Workers in Halton Region support thousands of children across licensed child care centres, licensed home care agencies, EarlyON Child and Family Centres and community services in Halton, including our three Regional Child Care centres.

As part of their role, Early Childhood Educators and Child Care Workers in Halton Region:
- plan and deliver age-appropriate learning activities that support social, emotional, physical and cognitive development
- observe and assess children’s growth to tailor learning experiences to each child’s needs
- build trusting relationships with children and families to foster inclusion, belonging and open communication
- promote positive behaviours, problem-solving and teamwork to help children develop lifelong skills
- support children with diverse needs and collaborate with Resource Consultants, therapists and other specialists to ensure every child feels included and supported
- support the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Program (external link) (or $10-a-day child care)
