Notice of Study Completion: Municipal Class Assessment Study - PR-3131A

Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) Transportation Corridor Improvements Tremaine Road (Regional Road 22) to Industrial Drive Town of Milton | PR-3131A

Study

Halton Region has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study to improve network connectivity and address forecasted travel demand to 2031 on Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) from Tremaine Road (Regional Road 22) to Industrial Drive, in the Town of Milton. The study has been conducted in compliance with Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, amended 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

Process

The Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared to document the planning, public consultation and decision-making process undertaken for this study. By this Notice, the ESR is being placed on the public record for a 45-day review period in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class EA. Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice and the receipt of necessary approvals, Halton Region intends to proceed with the detailed design and construction of the preferred alternative solution as documented in the ESR.

An electronic copy of the Environmental Study Report can be accessed through the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Studies page on halton.ca.

Interested persons may provide written comments to our project team by January 30, 2023. All comments and concerns should be sent to steelesmcea@halton.ca.

In addition, a request may be made to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks for an order requiring a higher level of study (i.e., requiring an individual/ comprehensive EA approval before being able to proceed), or that conditions be imposed (e.g., require further studies), only on the grounds that the requested order may prevent, mitigate or remedy adverse impacts on constitutionally protected Aboriginal and treaty rights. Requests on other grounds will not be considered. Requests should include the requester contact information and full name for the ministry.

Requests should specify what kind of order is being requested (request for additional conditions or a request for an individual/comprehensive environmental assessment), how an order may prevent, mitigate or remedy those potential adverse impacts, and any information in support of the statements in the request. This will ensure that the ministry is able to efficiently begin reviewing the request.

The request should be sent in writing by mail or by email to:
