Welcome to the August edition of Halton Highlights. This is the latest news on the projects and programs happening in Halton that help us live well, grow responsibly, and thrive together.
Keeping paramedics safe
Halton’s Paramedics are on call 24/7 for us—and they deserve our protection.
Watch the video from Paramedic Services (YouTube video) Chief Greg Sage and Halton Police Chief Steven Tanner to see how we’re tackling violence against our first responders and pushing for changes to the criminal code.
Reduce the risk of basement flooding
We’re helping homeowners reduce flood risk with more outreach, support for private-side disconnections from the wastewater system and stronger partnerships.
Learn how to protect your home with our Basement Flooding program.

Tremaine road bridge is open!
The new bridge between Steeles Ave and Campbellville Rd is now open—making it easier, safer, and ready for future growth.
See what’s new with the Tremaine Road project.

Planning for growth, building for the future
We’re working with the Province and Local Municipalities to support housing and critical infrastructure.

Your tax dollars at work
Despite economic challenges, Halton is staying financially strong.

Stop ticks in their tracks!
- Wear light, long sleeves & pants
- Tuck pants into socks
- Use DEET or Icaridin repellent
- Check for ticks (scalp, groin, armpits, pets too!)

Breathe easy during wildfire season
Poor air quality due to wildfire smoke is becoming more common.

Free naloxone kits are available in our community
Naloxone can help save lives: it can keep a person alive until emergency services arrive. Free kits are available at Halton Region Sexual Health Clinics and some Halton pharmacies. Please call ahead to check if your pharmacy has kits in stock.
