Decommissioning of COVax and COVID-19 Vaccination Services for Homebound Residents

Quick facts

  • COVaxON, the provincial program used for COVID-19 immunization records and inventory management, will be decommissioned on
  • Starting this spring, Panorama Guided Workflow (PGW) will be used to document COVID-19 vaccines. The Ministry has not announced a go-live date for PGW.
  • After , access to enhanced COVID-19 vaccine certificates with QR codes for COVID-19 vaccines will be temporarily unavailable while immunization records are being transferred into Panorama. Access will be restored once the migration is complete.
  • Public Health will no longer be offering the COVID-19 Vaccination Service for Homebound Residents. All current clients have been offered an appointment before the service is discontinued.

COVax decommissioning

  • COVaxON will be decommissioned on
  • COVID-19 vaccine documentation will be consolidated into the Panorama Immunization System, used by Ontario Public Health Units to manage vaccine inventories and immunization records.
  • COVID-19 vaccine providers will be given access to Panorama through PGW.
  • All COVID-19 doses administered must be entered into COVaxON before
  • Any doses administered after COVaxON has been decommissioned, must be documented as per professional practice standards. These doses will need to be recorded in PGW once the system goes live. The Ministry of Health has not announced a go-live date for PGW.
  • To continue administering COVID-19 vaccines after COVaxON has been decommissioned, organizations will require access to PGW. The Ministry of Health emailed details about this process in .
  • The Ministry of Health be offering training and supporting materials related to PGW. More information will be provided to organizations by the Ministry of Health, in the coming weeks.

COVID-19 vaccines for homebound residents

Starting this spring, Public Health will no longer be offering COVID-19 vaccines to homebound residents.

  • Homebound individuals are encouraged to receive their COVID-19 vaccine from the same provider who gives them their influenza vaccine.
  • Homebound individuals who are already receiving health care services in their home should ask these providers about COVID-19 vaccinations.

Key information for patients

  • Access to enhanced vaccine certificates with QR codes for COVID-19 vaccines will be temporarily unavailable.
  • The Ministry of Health will be transferring COVID-19 records from COVax to PGW. Records for immunizations received within the last six months will be transferred first. All records are expected to be transferred into PGW by .
  • Patients will be able to access and print their immunization record through Immunization Connect (ICON). Once data migration from COVax to Panorama is complete, records will include any COVID-19 vaccines that have been received.
