Halton paramedics respond to more than 50,000 calls and transport nearly 30,000 people to hospitals each year. In these emergency situations, every moment counts, and we are making sure that timely and high-quality paramedic services are here for you now and in the future.
ORH Ltd. was engaged to update the Paramedic Services Master Plan. They estimated an average 4.7 per cent increase in demand for paramedic services annually over the next 10 years – this accounts for growth and population aging.
To maintain our level of services and serve you best, we’ve recently approved the new 10-year plan.
Here are some highlights of what we are going to do over the next 10 years:
We’re building more stations to serve you:
- New headquarters/ hub in Oakville strategically positioned near the QEW, Halton Regional Police Services Headquarters, Halton Regional Centre and Woodlands Operation Centre.
- New hub facility in Halton Hills to support future growth in South Georgetown and east Milton, next to the 1 District Halton Regional Police Station that's under construction.
We’re adding more paramedics to the team:
By 2034 we will add 1400 additional hours of ambulance staffing each week and 32 additional support staff. Our vital support staff help keep all our stations and ambulances stocked with necessary supplies and medical equipment.
We’re expanding our specialized services:
More Community Paramedics are being added to support programs including the Community Paramedicine Program in partnership with other health agencies and lifesaving and emergency training for residents and businesses across Halton.
Thank you to our Paramedics for your unmatched dedication to serving our community and saving lives. Your training, medical expertise and collaboration with hospital emergency rooms ensure that those in life-threatening situations receive the best care possible. Your efforts help keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
