Regional Chair Gary Carr: Your Vote Matters: Make an Informed Decision

Premier Ford has called the next Provincial election for Thursday, February 27. As you think about your vote, we are outlining our priority issues to help you make an informed decision.

Working together, Halton Region and the Province have taken some key steps forward on priority issues, however, there is much more to be done. A collaborative partnership with the Provincial Government is critical to address priority issues impacting the Halton community:

Delivering infrastructure to support housing

Providing housing for those with the greatest need

Reducing Regional contributions for Provincial funding shortfalls

Expanding affordable child care spaces to meet demand

Simply put, we need to: get water and wastewater infrastructure in place to get housing built faster, get people out of encampments and into permanent housing with supports, get every child into a high quality and affordable childcare space and reduce Halton taxpayer contributions for provincial funding responsibilities.

Team Halton is strong, and we have a track record of working well with our Provincial partners to deliver critical programs and services. Throughout the election period, we will make sure Halton's voices are heard on the issues and reflected in Provincial funding commitments.

Regional Council looks forward to continuing our work together to solve these issues for our residents and keep Halton the place to live, grow, and thrive.
