We’ve got wheely exciting news! Over the last few weeks, Wheeled Garbage Carts have been delivered to approximately 18,000 homes as part of our expanded Wheeled Cart Program. This is the next phase of the project, with a Region-wide rollout starting in 2027!

Homes within this summer’s expansion areas were notified directly about the program in March. If you did not receive a letter, hang tight and stay tuned for more info about the Region-wide rollout!

Reminder for residents in the Wheeled Cart Garbage expansion areas!

Starting the week of June 16, those in the expansion areas can start to place their carts at the curb to be collected. Collection will take place on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day (there are no changes to your collection schedule). As a friendly reminder, we ask those in the expansion area not to use the new carts until your first scheduled date – they will not be collected.)

This Wheeled Cart Program is part of our ongoing commitment to improving waste collection services. Based on the positive results from our successful demonstration project in 2023, along with insights from other municipalities and industry best practices, Regional Council approved the expansion and now, we’re ready to roll! These carts are designed to make waste collection safer, cleaner, and more efficient for both residents and our crews.
