Halton Region will request a review of the Ontario Land Tribunal’s August 18, 2026 Nelson Aggregate Co. quarry decision and file an application for judicial review with the Divisional Court. The Region expects to file both this week, ahead of the September 17 deadline, and will primarily support the City of Burlington in these proceedings.
The Tribunal’s decision allowed Nelson Aggregate Co.’s appeals related to expanding its existing Burlington Quarry onto lands south and west of the current operation near Mount Nemo. Halton Region believes there are reasonable grounds to seek further consideration of the decision and remains concerned about the expansion’s potential impacts on water resources and the environment.
