Invitation For Public Comment: Burloak Water Treatment Plant Intake Process Line Replacement and Lake Current Monitoring System Installation

Transport Canada’s Navigation Protection Program (NPP) administers the Canadian Navigable Waters Act (CNWA), which helps keep Canada’s navigable waters open for transport and recreation.

In accordance with the requirements of the Canadian Navigable Waters Act, the Regional Municipality of Halton hereby gives notice that an application has been submitted to the Minister of Transport for the following work:

  • Registry Number: 13115
  • NPP File Number: 2025-415788
  • Project Description: Installation of a Lake Current Monitoring System (instrument array on lake bottom, and anchored subsurface buoy array). Intake maintenance work to replace internal process lines will also be performed. Temporary marine craft required.
  • Worksite Location: Lake Current Monitoring System will be installed in Lake Ontario, outside of Halton Region's Burloak Water Treatment Plant intake. Canadian Hydrographic Chart Number 2086. Site Coordinates: 43.373250, -79.711600.
