Britannia Road to Highway 407 Express Toll Route
Town of Milton and Town of Oakville
About the study
Halton Region is undertaking an Addendum to the Schedule C Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) study completed in for James Snow Parkway from Highway 401 to Neyagawa Boulevard (including a new bridge crossing over East Sixteen Mile Creek).
Since the 1999 study, the section of James Snow Parkway north of Britannia Road has been constructed and is now a Regional Road. Halton Region’s Transportation Master Plan to 2031 identified the James Snow Parkway extension from Britannia Road to Highway 407 Express Toll Route (ETR) as a six-lane corridor. This Addendum is to address the cross-section considerations including a change from a 35-metre rural four-lane roadway to a 47-metre six-lane urban right-of-way. The Addendum will also update mitigation measures to reflect updated legislation and policies for the section of James Snow Parkway from Britannia Road southerly to Highway 407 ETR.
Process and consultation
The Addendum will be carried out in accordance with the MCEA (, as amended ), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
A key component of the MCEA process is consultation with the public, review agencies, First Nations and Indigenous Communities, and other interested parties. The purpose of this Public Information Centre (PIC) is to review and obtain input on the updated preliminary plan for the extension of James Snow Parkway.
Upon completion of the study, an MCEA Addendum to the Environmental Study Report will be prepared and placed on the public record for a minimum 30-day review period.
