Town of Halton Hills, PR-6589
About the study
To support future growth in the Town of Halton Hills, the Southeast Georgetown Wastewater Pumping Station and Forcemains project was identified in the Sustainable Halton Water and Wastewater Master Plan Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) Study. The project was subsequently deferred as existing infrastructure continued to meet wastewater demands in the community.
With the recent approval of the Southeast Georgetown Secondary Plan, Halton Region has undertaken this Addendum to the MCEA Study as the wastewater pumping station is now required to support growth into in the Town of Halton Hills.
The MCEA process requires renewal for studies when a project has not commenced within ten years of its completion. This Addendum has re-evaluated and confirmed that the recommended Southeast Georgetown Wastewater Pumping Station and Forcemains can meet future demands within the current environment.
Process and consultation
The Addendum was carried out in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association’s MCEA Process (, as amended ), which is an approved process under Ontario’s Environmental Assessment Act. The Addendum to the MCEA Study documents the planning and decision-making process undertaken for this study.
The preferred alternative location for the new pumping station, identified through the Addendum, is north of 10 Side Road and west of Adamson Street South. The wastewater pumping station and twinned forcemains will convey flows from the Southeast Georgetown growth area to the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Comments and more information
Starting , and ending , the Addendum to the MCEA Study is being placed on public record for a 30-day review period, in accordance with the requirements of the MCEA Process (, as amended ). Subject to comments received during the review period and the receipt of necessary approvals, Halton Region intends to proceed with the detailed design and construction of the Southeast Georgetown Wastewater Pumping Station and Forcemains. The Addendum to the MCEA Study is available online for public review through the Sustainable Halton Water & Wastewater Master Plan page on halton.ca.
