Regional Chair Gary Carr: Building a better Halton together

Mar 02, 2023
four-way intersection detailing new improvements, including turn lanes, road widening, landscaping, traffic signals and bike lanes.

Investing in our Regional roads to keep traffic, pedestrians, transit users and cyclists moving safely is always one of our top priorities. Whether in your neighbourhood, along your commute or near where you shop and do business, you can expect to see lots of activity on some major improvements this spring.

Some examples of these exciting transportation projects include:

  • The new Wyecroft Bridge and Road Extension project, which will connect the City of Burlington and Town of Oakville over Bronte Creek. This work will provide safe travel options for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, transit users and first responders.
  • Continuation of critical widening and improvement efforts, such as the Britannia Road Corridor, the Dundas Street Corridor, and the Trafalgar Road projects.
  • Work to establish important connections that enhance our transportation network, including our William Halton Parkway project, which includes a new roadway, bike lanes and intersection enhancements, such as traffic signals and roundabouts.

We also continue to keep our roads safe through our ongoing road resurfacing program and by using roundabouts in select locations. Roundabouts help decrease the risk of serious collisions and allow more traffic to efficiently travel through an intersection. For tips on how to drive through a roundabout and a list of roundabouts in Halton, please visit our roundabout page.
