Initial Updates and how to prepare for the 2026/2007 Fall Respiratory Vaccination Campaign

Article

Quick facts

  • Public Health expects to receive Influenza, Infant RSV products and COVID-19 vaccines for the 2026/2027 season in late September / early October.
  • The COVID-19, influenza, and RSV programs, including products, are similar to last year’s Fall vaccination campaign and provincial guidance is expected in the coming weeks.
  • Starting this fall, facilities that have not completed the Panorama Guided Workflow onboarding process will not be able to order COVID-19 vaccines.
  • This year, there will be no interruption to routine and high-risk vaccine distribution during the auto-shipment period.

Key messages for healthcare providers

  • Routine and high-risk vaccine distribution will continue during the auto-shipment period. Please continue to submit vaccine orders according to the ordering deadlines highlighted on the vaccine distribution schedule.
  • Vaccine pick ups will not be available during the influenza auto-shipment weeks. All vaccine orders will be delivered along with flu auto-shipments at no cost to your facility. Specific delivery dates will be available later in September.
  • Review your vaccine inventory to ensure you have enough fridge space for the anticipated respiratory season vaccines.

  • Unlike influenza and COVID-19 vaccines, RSV products are not updated annually. Any non-expired inventory that was not used last year, can be administered this season.
  • RSV products that are administered as part of the infant and high risk children program (external link) can only be given during the RSV season. The Ministry of Health will announce the start of the 2026/2027 RSV season.
  • Health care providers are encouraged to begin discussing infant RSV protection with expectant parents and families of infants. Early conversations help families understand available options, ask questions, and make informed decisions.
  • When discussing infant RSV prevention, consider providing information on RSV risks in infants, protection through Beyfortus® and Abrysvo®, and access to reliable resources and program updates.
  • RSV vaccines that are administered as part of the Adult RSV prevention program (external link) can be administered all year round, outside of the RSV season.
  • Update: Due to delays in implementation of the pharmacy adult bundle program, publicly funded RSV vaccines are not currently available at community pharmacies.
