Halton's Drinking Water Quality Management System

DWQMS Policy

Halton Region maintains and operates municipal drinking water systems that service residents and businesses of Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville. The Region is committed to:

  • Providing customers with safe drinking water
  • Complying with applicable legislation and regulations
  • Maintaining and continually improving the Drinking Water Quality Management System

DWQMS Operational Plan

Halton Region has developed and implemented a DWQMS.

The DWQMS is documented within the Halton Region Drinking Water Quality Management System Operational Plan and meets the requirements of the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks’ Drinking Water Quality Management Standard.

The  DWQMS Operational Plan (external link)  and  Policy (external link)  are endorsed by the Owner to satisfy the requirements of the Standard and fulfill the duties of owners under the  Safe Drinking Water Act (external link) . The Owner endorses the Operational Plan through Council resolution, as documented in the Council meeting minutes and can be found on the Region’s Council Committee Documents page.

Financial Plan

Ontario  Regulation 453/07 (external link) of the  Safe Drinking Water Act (external link) requires that all municipalities complete a Financial Plan for their respective drinking water systems. The Financial Plan for Halton Region was developed to comply with the requirements of this regulation in accordance with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks’ Municipal Drinking Water Licensing Program (external link).

Halton’s plan details the financial state of the Region’s drinking water systems based on a 10-year forecast. The  Financial Plan (external pdf) for Halton Region has been endorsed through Council resolution, as documented in the Council meeting minutes and can be found on the Region’s Council Committee Documents page.
