Regional Chair Gary Carr: Halton residents 65+ can now book COVID-19 vaccine appointments

We are continuing to make good progress to vaccinate our most vulnerable populations in Halton and I’m pleased to share that residents 65 years of age and older (born in or before 1956) can now book an appointment through our online booking system!

How can I book an appointment?

Eligible residents can continue to quickly and easily book appointments through our online booking system. While booking online is the fastest way to schedule an appointment, residents who require assistance can also call 311. Please do not call if you are not eligible so we can reserve this booking method for those who need it most

Eligible residents can book an appointment at any one of our six clinics located in Burlington (including Joseph Brant Hospital), Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville (including Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital) and eligible residents can book their appointment at any of these clinics. Please note that parking is free at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial and Joseph Brant hospital clinic sites.

As a reminder, bookings are not available through the Provincial system; if you access the Provincial system, you will be redirected back to our system.

Who is currently eligible in Halton?

The Province determines who is eligible for vaccination and when. Halton Region is required to follow the Province’s vaccine implementation plan (external link), including priority sequencing across the three phases. Halton Region Public Health does not have the authority to make any exceptions to the Province’s direction.

The following groups are all currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and can book appointments online:

  • all Halton residents 65 and older (born in 1956 or earlier);
  • Indigenous adults (including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit populations) aged 55 years of age or older;
  • staff and essential caregivers from long-term care or retirement homes in Halton who have not received their first dose;
  • health care workers identified as highest priority, very high priority and high priority (providing direct, non-virtual care at least once a week) who live OR work in Halton; and
  • adults receiving chronic home care through a Local Health Integration Network or a home care agency.

If you know someone who is eligible and may need assistance accessing information or booking their appointment, please reach out. We have appointments available for everyone who is currently eligible, so please do not worry if you have not booked just yet.

As always, our ability to keep vaccinating at this pace remains dependent on ongoing supply from the Federal Government and allocation from the Province.

Public health measure remain critically important to stop COVID-19

While the vaccine program progresses, our incredible public health team is also working tirelessly to quickly identify and manage COVID-19 cases to help keep our residents safe. In addition to getting your vaccine when it is your turn, please continue following all public health direction to protect yourself and others. As we head into the long weekend, please remember that although we are making good progress to vaccinate residents, we need to continue following public health measures. Please do not gather with people outside of your household this weekend, even if you or someone you know are vaccinated. There are many ways we can stay connected to one another. Consider hosting or attending a virtual event or get outside and enjoy the many parks and trails Halton has to offer. By doing our part to keep each other safe and healthy, we can help keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.

Thank you!

Finally, on behalf of Regional Council, I continue to extend my gratitude to Regional staff and our partners at Joseph Brant Hospital and Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for all of your efforts at Halton’s vaccination clinics. The success of the COVID-19 vaccine program is a result of their hard work and dedication, and I can’t thank them enough for their incredible work during this time.
