Delivering More Supportive Rental Housing for Older Adults

I’m proud to share exciting progress on a key housing initiative in Halton region. Construction is well underway at 1258 Rebecca Street in Oakville, where we’re building a new assisted and supportive housing community for older adults. Even better—this project is on track to be completed in just 12 months, with residents expected to move in by early 2026!

This housing development features 14 one-bedroom units designed with accessibility and energy efficiency in mind. Every unit is barrier-free, ensuring safe and comfortable living for older adults facing mobility and housing challenges. Residents will be able to enjoy two beautiful community gardens, charge scooters right at their front doors, and a smooth, accessible path that leads straight to the library next door. They will also have access to health and social services supports provided by Links2Care.

Building through partnerships

Along with all levels of government, housing remains a top priority for Halton. To support federal, provincial and local housing goals, we are focused on delivering more assisted and supportive housing units to our community.

This project is another powerful example of how Halton Region is investing in housing solutions that meet community needs. With funding support from our federal and provincial partners, we’re working together to create more housing opportunities for those with the greatest need in our community.
