Your Blue Box Program has changed – Here’s what you need to know

As of January 1, 2026, Halton Region’s residential Blue Box recycling program is managed by Circular Materials Ontario.

This is part of Ontario’s plan to make recycling easier and more consistent across the province for residents.

What’s new

New management: Circular Materials Ontario now oversees the residential Blue Box program in Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.

More items accepted: The list of recyclable materials has expanded and is now consistent across Ontario. Visit Circular Materials Ontario (external link) for the latest list.

What’s staying the same

  • Same day, same way: Your collection schedule hasn’t changed.
  • Same trucks: You’ll still see Miller Waste trucks in your neighbourhood.
  • Same containers: Keep using your blue box or clear bags for recycling.
  • Other curbside services: Garbage, green cart, yard waste, bulk item, commercial garbage and recycling services, and metal appliance collection, remain unchanged and are still provided by Halton Region.
