About the study
Halton Region is carrying out a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for a New North Regional Road Corridor between Fifth Line and Sixth Line from Britannia Road (Regional Road 6) to Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 8) in the Towns of Halton Hills and Milton.
The study is examining a wide range of road improvements including a new corridor. In addition, the study will consider active transportation, traffic and intersection operations, structural, drainage, and cross-sectional requirements. Social, cultural and environmental impacts of the improvements will be assessed and evaluated through the study.
Process and consultation
The study is being carried out in accordance with Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended 2007, 2011, 2015, 2023, and 2024), which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
A key component of the study is consultation with the public, review agencies, and First Nations and Indigenous Communities through Public Information Centres (PICs). The purpose of this first PIC is to present and obtain input on the problem/opportunity statement, background information, alternative solutions, development of the corridor concepts, including the preliminary preferred corridor concept.
