Our new 10-year Housing Plan takes bold action to address housing needs in Halton
Halton Region’s Comprehensive Housing Strategy focuses on improving our homelessness response system and protecting, retaining and growing our community housing opportunities. We also continue to advocate for increased funding for housing from all levels of government to meet these needs.

It’s another AAA rating from S&P Global Ratings!
This top credit rating affirms Halton Region’s strong financial position, keeping taxes as low as possible as we build the roads, water, and wastewater infrastructure needed to accelerate growth.

Investing in food distribution to enhance food security in Halton
The number of residents relying on food programs to meet their basic needs is on the rise. Halton Region will be investing $1 million annually to support the critical food distribution services provided by Food for Life and FeedHalton.

Halton Region’s infrastructure supports critical services in our community
Regional infrastructure and assets in Halton are vital for a high quality of life. Our assets are valued at $19.7 billion, and 80 per cent of them are in good to very good condition.

We want to hear from you about proposed improvements to Regional Road 25!
To improve our road network and meet forecasted demand as our community grows, we’re considering a wide range of options along Regional Road 25 from Speers Road to Derry Road (Regional Road 7), including road widening, active transportation and more.

Get involved and shape the future of the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant!
To accommodate growth, we’re planning upgrades to the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant to increase the capacity from 125 million litres per day (ML/d) to 175 ML/d.

The New Tremaine Road bridge opens in Milton on July 7
Get ready for a smoother, safer drive — the new bridge over Hwy 401 opens July 7, linking Steeles Ave to Campbellville Rd. The old bridge closes for good on the same day.
To safely remove the old bridge, Hwy 401 will close overnight between Regional Rd 25 and Guelph Line on July 12 after 9 p.m.
Plan ahead and drive safely!

Wheeled cart garbage collection starts to roll out across Halton
We’re rolling out Wheeled Garbage Carts to 18,000 more homes this summer! This is the next phase of the project, with a Region-wide rollout starting in 2027!
