On June 3, 2018, Regional Councillor Blair Lancaster was re-elected for her second term to the Board of Directors, Ontario Caucus for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Halifax. FCM has been the national voice of municipal government since 1901 and plays an important role in advocating to ensure the needs of municipalities are reflected in federal policies and programs.
Regional Councillor and past president of FCM, Clark Somerville, who is a committee member of FCM, was also recognized at the AGM for 10 years of dedicated service to the FCM Board. Councillor Somerville was instrumental in ensuring that municipalities were at the decision making table of the federal government, which has resulted in some great achievements such as the Investing in Canada infrastructure funding, which provided Halton Region with close to $40 million in funding, as well as Canada’s first National Housing Strategy.
