Pride Month is a time to celebrate and show our support for members of the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and other sexual and gender identities (2SLGBTQ+) community. In Halton we welcome, respect and value all people, and in recognition of Pride Month we are flying the Progressive Pride flag at Halton Regional Centre for the month of June.

In 2018, graphic designer Daniel Quasar (external link) developed the Progressive Pride flag, a variation of the Rainbow flag that includes five additional colours. Light blue, light pink and white represent the transgender community. The colours brown and black represent marginalized People of Colour and Indigenous Peoples. The black stripe represents those living with AIDS and those who lost their lives.

Halton Pride Fest (external link) takes place on Saturday, June 24 at Country Heritage Park in Milton, and Pride Toronto Events (external link) are taking place throughout the month of June. These celebrations offer something for families and people of all ages to enjoy, and represent the ongoing commitment in our community to promoting inclusion, mutual respect and ally-ship.

We continue to work to provide essential programs and services that are inclusive, safe and accessible for everyone. By coming together to celebrate Pride in June and year-round, we help keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
