Halton Region provides prenatal education programs for expecting parents and families with newborns while supporting the overall health and well-being of all Halton residents. Halton Online Prenatal Classes

Engaging and interactive online prenatal classes are FREE and available to all residents of Halton. Learn about pregnancy, labour and birth, breastfeeding, newborn care, and Halton resources/supports at your own pace, using a computer or mobile device. These classes are made for you; whether you are having your first baby or expecting another child, whether you are a parent-to-be or a support person.

  • Four self-directed online classes include:
    • Understanding pregnancy
      Learn about pregnancy, watch 3D animated videos of how your baby is developing, and learn how to minimize discomforts you may experience.
    • Understanding birth
      Get a sense of what labour is really like as you watch several birth stories and have the opportunity to create your own birth plan.
    • Understanding breastfeeding
      Learn about breastfeeding through videos including the importance of breastfeeding and how to set yourself up for success and manage common problems.
    • Understanding your newborn
      Learn how to care for your newborn, how to read your baby’s cues and about why bonding is so important for brain development.
  • Easily accessible from your computer, phone or tablet
  • Includes audio voiceover, closed captioning, videos, quizzes and additional resources

Virtual Prenatal Breastfeeding Class

In this free 1.5-hour class, learn how to get breastfeeding off to a good start, find breastfeeding supports and get your questions answered by a Public Health Nurse. Open to expectant parents and their partner/support person.

A free year-round program for expectant and new parents.


Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program (HBHC)

Having a baby can be exciting and challenging. You may have questions or need help adjusting to life with a new baby. Ontario’s Health Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) program can support you in giving your baby a healthy start in life.

You can connect with HBHC before your baby is born, while you are in hospital or after you bring your baby home. HBHC offers families support and resources in a variety of ways, including over the phone, by email or mail or in person. Call 311 for more information.
