Landlords in the Rent Supplement Program

 
Landlords who have a Rent Supplement Agreement with Halton Region can use the information, forms and resources on this page.

As a landlord with a Rent Supplement Agreement with Halton Region, you have the following responsibilities:

  • Following the provisions of the Rent Supplement Agreement that you signed with Halton Region
  • Maintaining the normal landlord/tenant relationship (as per the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), 2006 (external link) and all applicable legislation), which includes:
    • Rent collection
    • Maintenance
    • Formal notices
    • Repairs and services
  • Sending a copy of formal notices to Rent Supplement staff, which includes:

Housing Services Act (HSA), 2011 (external link) Governs eligibility for a Rent-Geared-To-Income subsidy
Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) (external link) Governs all information relating to Rent Supplement tenants that is provided to, collected or maintained by Halton Region’s Rent Supplement Program

The Landlord and Tenant Board (external link) website provides forms (external link) for landlords to use for various purposes under the RTA.

Landlords must respect the privacy of Rent Supplement tenants and their rights regarding their subsidy.
