Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program

The new Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) is a government-funded dental care program. It provides free, routine dental services for low-income residents who are 65 years of age or older. Learn more about this program below.

Important information regarding the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program in Halton

OSDCP clients must access care through Halton Region Public Health. Please call 311 for information on how to access services in Halton Region before seeking care.

Waitlist for Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program

Due to overwhelming demand, there is currently a waitlist to receive seniors dental care services in Halton. To add your name to the waitlist, please call 311.

Who is eligible for the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program?

You may be eligible if you:

  • are 65 years of age or older;
  • are a resident of Ontario;
  • an individual with an annual net income of $22,200 or less, or a couple with an annual net income of $37,100 or less; and
  • have no other form of dental benefits, including private insurance or dental coverage under another government program such as Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program or Non-Insured Health Benefits).

Applications to the Ministry of Health (the Province) will be assessed using the new income thresholds starting July 1, 2021.

What services are covered?

  • Examinations and assessments
  • Preventative services
  • Restorative services to repair broken teeth and cavities
  • X-rays
  • Oral surgery to remove teeth or abnormal tissue
  • Anesthesia

Partial coverage is provided for prosthodontic services, including dentures.

How do I apply?

Online:

  1. Visit www.ontario.ca/SeniorsDental and select the 'apply online' button.
  2. Complete the online application form.
  3. Print and sign the Consent form.
  4. Mail the Consent form to:

What happens if I’m approved?

If you are approved for the program you will be mailed a welcome package and a dental card.

OSDCP coverage renews on August 1 each year. Cardholders will get a notice in the mail about OSDCP renewal. For more information visit www.ontario.ca/seniors/dental (external link) under the ‘Renew your yearly coverage’ section.
