Simply Fresh. Simply Fun. Simply Local Halton.

Jun 03, 2019

Home to a vibrant and diverse agricultural community, Halton offers residents a wide variety of options to eat fresh, seasonal produce, get active and support our local economy. From local farms and stables to pick-your-own produce locations and garden centres, Halton residents can connect with local farmers and explore agricultural activities in all four of Halton’s local municipalities--Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville.

Supporting our local economy and our agricultural sector continue to be priorities for Halton Region. Located in the Golden Horseshoe, farms across Halton rely on our abundant freshwater resources, high-quality agricultural soils and some of the best climatic conditions – allowing the region’s farmers to produce more than 200 different crops.

This means residents have access to a wide selection of local produce. You can also feel good knowing that buying local benefits our environment, supports local agri-business and simply tastes great!

As the warm weather approaches, it’s a great time to explore and enjoy what Halton’s agricultural community has to offer:

  • Pick-your-own garden patches to enjoy seasonal fruits and veggies;
  • Nine farmers’ markets across Halton’s four local municipalities;
  • Ranches, stables and equestrian centres; and
  • Nurseries and greenhouses to fill your home garden with local plants and greenery.
