Special Waste Drop off Days
Drop off electronic and hazardous waste at Special Waste Drop off Days

Halton Region provides convenient waste reduction programs and services to make managing your household waste an easy part of your daily routine. I would like to thank residents for their continued participation in our weekly curbside waste collection programs, such as the Blue Box and Green Cart, and using the drop-off services available at the Halton Waste Management Site.

We continue to make investments to improve our programs, respond to changing market conditions and provide the highest level of customer service to residents and businesses.

Windy weather

We can all work together to keep the neighbourhood clean and prevent materials from blowing away on windier days. As a reminder, please consider the following tips:

  • Put materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of collection, not the night before.
  • Consider using a clear plastic bag for recyclables.
  • Place heavier recyclables on top of loose items.
  • Put shredded paper, napkins and paper towels in the Green Cart, with the lid latch secured.

Spring waste reminders

There is a lot happening this Spring to be aware of. Here a few upcoming events, reminders and tips:

  • Starting the week of April 1, our Yard Waste collection program begins. Yard waste is collected every other week on the same day as garbage. Please remember to use a paper yard waste bag or a rigid container with a yellow yard waste sticker only.

  • Between Sunday May 5 and June 30, 2019, the Halton Waste Management Site will be open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon. Take advantage of these additional hours to make sure you are disposing of your spring cleaning waste properly.

  • The week of May 6, the Halton Waste Management Site will be holdings its annual compost giveaway. Bring a shovel, bags and donation for our local food banks!

  • We also are holding our regular Special Waste Drop off Days throughout the region this year. Instead of going to the Halton Waste Management Site, you can visit one of these locations to drop off electronic and hazardous waste, free of charge.

It’s through these programs and the small, but significant actions taken by each resident, that we can make a big difference in reducing our collective impact on the environment and keep Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family, and retire.
