Curbside collection reminders for the winter

During inclement weather, waste collection may take place later in the day. Here are some helpful reminders:

  • Make sure your Blue Box, Green Cart and garbage materials are visible to collection crews.
  • Place your Green Cart, Blue Box or garbage bins back from the road to allow snowplows to clear the streets safely.
  • Do not place your Green Cart, Blue Box or garbage on top of snow banks. This helps keep collection crews safe and prevents bins from getting stuck or frozen.

COVID-19 update

  • Curbside collection programs will continue, including Blue Box, Green Cart, Yard Waste, Bulk Waste, metal and appliance appointments and garbage. View your weekly schedule.
    • Please bag and tie all garbage and organic material. Loose items will not be collected.
    • Please wrap all mattresses and box springs in plastic before placing at the curb for bulk waste collection.
  • The Halton Waste Management Site (HWMS) remains open during regular business hours, with some service suspensions in place. Learn more about drop-off services.
    • All waste events, including Special Waste Drop-off Days and the Fall Compost Giveaway, have been cancelled for 2020. Learn more about our waste events and resources.
    • If necessary, residents can pick up a Blue Box or Green Cart at the HWMS, but will be required to pick up their own and carry them to their vehicle. In order to ensure a sufficient supply is available to all residences, one blue box and one green cart per vehicle will be provided.
