Regional Chair Gary Carr: Thank you to frontline nurses and support staff

May 12, 2020

In our Regional long-term care homes and behind every medical mask, there is a person caring for those who need it most. As we celebrate National Nurses’ Week and Long-Term Care Month, we want to shine a light on the frontline staff who are working tirelessly to keep our most vulnerable residents safe and healthy. These staff have also had to quickly adapt to changes both personally and professionally. From undergoing active screening each shift, to wearing extra personal protective equipment and in some cases self-isolating from their families, these individuals are some of the heroes of our fight against COVID-19.

As part of our #StrongerTogehter campaign, one of our Registered Practical Nurses has shared her story and experience on the frontline providing person-centered care and high quality treatment. Please watch her story below:

There are also support staff who are taking care of the physical, social and emotional well-being of our long-term care residents. This includes Personal Support Workers, Life Enrichment Therapists, Registered Dietary Aides, and so many others who are making a meaningful difference in resident’s day to day lives. Please view the story of one of our Life Enrichment Therapists below:

Long-term care staff have continued to show up each and every day, working on the frontline to protect the health and well-being of our residents. For all you do within our community, thank you!
