About Community Programs for Older Adults

Halton Region provides three accredited adult day programs for clients with physical disabilities, frail health, Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementias. Our day programs provide a safe, secure place where older adults can socialize and engage in social, cognitive and recreational activities. Our day programs provide assistance and supervision with personal care, as well as lunch and daily refreshments.

Available services

Adult day programs provide the following services
  • Therapeutic, cognitive, social and recreational programs
  • Assistance with personal care, meal time and mobility needs
  • A full meal at lunch time and refreshments in the morning and afternoon
  • Special diets to meet clients' nutritional needs
  • Hairdressing and barbering services in Milton (additional fee)
Various activities are available to help meet clients’ needs. Adult day programs include:
  • Holiday celebrations
  • Reminiscence groups
  • Current event discussions
  • Musical programs
  • Special events
  • Exercise programs
  • Educational sessions

Fees, application and referral process

Effective , the fee for all programs is $23.72 per day. You will be invoiced for all days registered in the adult day program. You will not be invoiced on days when the program is closed (for example, during extreme weather or statutory holidays).

Caregiver support and respite

Older adults and adults with disabilities face unique challenges that can require extensive support from caregivers. The day program support caregivers in their efforts to keep family members living at home. We can provide information and resources that will assist in your caregiving role.

Transportation

Participants and their caregivers are responsible for getting to and from the adult day program. Where this is not possible, the Day Program Coordinators assists with linking clients and families to the various transportation providers.
