Regional Chair Gary Carr: Celebrating the work of Regional staff this May

May 06, 2024
Thank you to Regional staff for all you do!

Each May, we recognize Regional staff who deliver valuable services that support our community every day. From educating residents on our region’s history to maintaining critical infrastructure and protecting community safety and well-being, these teams make Halton a great place to live!

May is Museum Month – “Museums for Education and Research”

Our Heritage Services team helps educate and inspire our community to learn about Halton’s past. They partner with local museums, galleries, heritage sites and school boards to deliver compelling programs for our residents. Thank you for enriching our communities!

Emergency Preparedness Week (May 5 to 11) – “Be Prepared. Know Your Risks.”

Our Emergency Management team ensures we are ready to respond quickly and effectively to an emergency. The team conducts yearly training, drills and exercises with staff and community partners, and promotes emergency preparedness to residents. Thank you to our Emergency Management team for all you do to keep our community safe!

National Nursing Week (May 6 to 12) – “Changing Lives. Shaping Tomorrow.”

Our incredible nurses at Halton Region provide the highest quality compassionate care to residents and their families when they need it most. From parenting supports to school-based immunizations and direct care for residents in our long-term care homes, our nurses are there for us throughout our lives. Thank you to our nurses at Halton Region for your important contributions and the positive impact you have on the health and well-being of our community!

National Paramedic Services Week (May 19 to 25) – “Honouring our Past, Forging our Future”

Our Paramedic Services team are highly skilled medical professionals with an unmatched dedication to serving the community. They work 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide life-saving emergency care and keep Halton’s residents safe and healthy. They also provide important community-based medical care and deliver valuable programming on how to stay safe in an emergency. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our community!

National Public Works Week (May 19 to 25) – “Advancing Quality of Life for All”

Our team in Public Works maintains our high quality of life as we grow. They provide us with essential services and vital infrastructure that people rely on every day: well-maintained Regional roads, clean drinking water, waste diversion and collection programs and treated wastewater that can be safely returned to the environment. Thank you to our Public Works team for providing essential services and critical infrastructure for our growing community.

On behalf of Regional Council, I want to thank Regional staff for all you do to make our community better every day. Your important work keeps Halton a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
