The Halton Connects program is an initiative that matches newcomers with Canadian citizens or longtime community members to build their social connections and achieve their career goals in the Halton community.
Through participation in the Halton Connects program, you get:
To participate in the Halton Connects program, you must be a permanent resident of Canada, protected persons or a convention refugee. Ukrainians who arrive in Canada under the CUAET immigration stream are also eligible for the program.
Volunteering through Halton Connects will help you establish and grow your professional network, meet new people and build valuable connections in the community. It will also provide the opportunity to gain Canadian work experience and references in your community.
Opportunities are available in a wide variety of industries and sectors. Volunteer positions will be geared to each participant’s area of interest and/or support their employment goals. Our program aims to help newcomers integrate into their community and achieve their goals using our resources to connect individuals with all types of volunteer positions.
Being connected to a career mentor can help build your local network, increase your communication skills and develop your understanding of professional environments in Canada.
At the start of the Halton Connects program, you will participate in several interactive workshops on networking, writing resumes and cover letters, interview skills, and more. These workshops will help prepare you for your volunteer and/or mentorship experiences, as well as your future job search.
