Employment Halton is hosting a job fair on Tuesday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Oakville Conference Centre. This event provides job seekers with the opportunity to network with local employers from a wide range of industries including technology, government, manufacturing, retail, hospitality and healthcare. Whether you’re just starting your career or looking to expand your network, job seekers of all experience levels are invited to attend the event.

Halton’s strong economic standing is reflected through low levels of unemployment and high rate of job creation, with more than 7,200 new jobs created across the region in 2017. The Employment Halton job fair is one of several ways Halton Region supports growth in the local economy by connecting employers with talented and motivated professionals.

Employers from diverse industries choose to call Halton home and these businesses benefit from a deep talent pool of professionals, proximity to leading educational institutions, easy access to major markets and a high quality of life. Connecting this talent pool with meaningful employment opportunities and assisting Halton employers in their recruitment efforts is an important priority for Halton Region.

Each year, Employment Halton connects over 12,000 job seekers to over 250 local employers. They work closely with local businesses by providing them with high-quality job placements through free online job boards and one-on-one support with recruitment efforts. Job seekers can also benefit from free workshops and one-on-one sessions to help create resumés, prepare for interviews and ultimately find meaningful work.

Employment Halton also offers programs such as Youth Job Connection, which provides placement opportunities for people between the ages of 15 to 29, giving them a head start in their careers. For those looking to transition into a new career, the Second Career (external link) program can help with the cost of training or education required to get a new job.

If you’re seeking employment, I encourage you to take advantage of these services and to attend the upcoming job fair. To learn more about our employment supports and programs, visit the Employment Programs and Supports page on halton.ca or call 311.
